We are overjoyed to share that our beloved Founder, Mrs. V. Shyamala Venkatesan, has been honored with the “Valarivan – Lifetime Achiever 2025” award by Sri Balamurugan N&P School, SVG. This prestigious recognition is a testament to her unwavering dedication and extraordinary contributions to the field of education.
The Meaning of "Valarivan"
In Tamil, “Valarivan” comes from:
“Valar” – meaning to grow or prosper, and
“Ivan” – meaning a wise person or learned individual.
Together, it signifies “one who grows in wisdom and knowledge”, a perfect reflection of our founder’s lifelong mission to uplift education.
A Journey of Passion and Commitment
From a small beginning to a thriving institution, Mrs. Venkatesan’s dedication has changed thousands of lives.
1976: She established Oxford Matriculation Girls Higher Secondary School in Pudur, Sivagangai, starting with just 7 students.
2015: She expanded her vision by founding Oxford Matriculation Boys School in Soorakulam, now educating 879 students.
Today, Oxford Schools have grown to nurture 1,870 students under the guidance of 104 dedicated teachers.
Her contributions to the field of education have earned her the title “Kalvi Thai” (Mother of Education), a recognition awarded by the Sivagangai Collector.
